The Clinton Highland Chapter of Pheasants Forever was started in 1995. The chapter has been involved in dozens of Habitat Projects involving thousands of acres since its formation. Our annual Youth Hunt has allowed hundreds of kids the opportunity to experience Pheasant Hunting. Two factors affect pheasant populations above all others—habitat and weather. While we can’t control the weather, we can influence the quality and quantity of upland habitat. Habitat is what supports long-term strong and healthy pheasant populations.
In 1982, a group of pheasant hunters saw the connection between upland habitat loss and declining pheasant populations. An organization dedicated to wildlife habitat conservation was needed, and Pheasants Forever was formed. Pheasants Forever’s mission work quickly garnered it a reputation as “The Habitat Organization,” a tagline the nonprofit conservation group uses proudly to this day.
Pheasants Forever's mission is to conserve pheasants, quail, and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public access, education, and conservation advocacy.
How do we achieve this mission across more than 40 U.S. states and parts of Canada? Through the dedicated efforts of our:
130,000 members
Diverse staff – including more than 175 biologists
Local chapters – more than 750
Many nongovernmental, governmental, nonprofit and corporate partners
The sum of these parts has made Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever the recognizable leader in wildlife habitat projects accomplished and the leading advocate for wildlife habitat conservation.
Unique among national conservation organizations, chapters of Pheasants Forever retain 100 percent decision-making control over their locally-raised funds. This allows chapter volunteers to develop wildlife habitat projects and conduct youth conservation events in their communities, while belonging to a national organization with a voice regarding state and federal conservation policy.
Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever host more than 750 fundraising events annually, most commonly annual chapter banquets. These banquets are an important source of revenue and provide chapters with the funds needed to accomplish thousands of wildlife habitat projects annually.
Only your annual $35 membership, which funds Pheasants Forever’s award-winning magazine, professional services of regional biologists and representatives, our national conservation education programs and state and federal legislative advocacy, is forwarded to the national office.
